Alishba – Pakistan
Along with her parents, two siblings and two uncles, Alishba has lived at City Plaza since the squat opened its doors a year ago.
Alishba loves her life in Greece and feels safe in Plaza. Alsihba and her family went through some testing times before arriving at City Plaza. She describes the difficult living conditions at some of the camps the family passed through: small tents, shared toilets and a total lack of private space.
She remembers walking on a path through the mountains where the fall was so steep it would kill you. This was during a terrible walk lasting 20 hours without food or water. Then came the boat journey to Greece where 80 people were crammed onboard a boat built for 16. Twice the boat experienced mechanical problems. Alishba talks about the cold and her fear of falling into the water and drowning. Alishba has good memories of Pakistan: birthday parties, family outings, celebrations and other moments of joy, like the traditional meal for Eid-el-Fitr after Ramadam.
